Prospective Students

The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences is a leader in many facets of earth, energy, and materials sciences and engineering and as a graduate student in our college you will work alongside multidisciplinary faculty researchers who are pioneering ideas that will benefit the Pennsylvania, the nation, and the world. You will have the opportunity to partner with researchers that are using cutting edge technologies, including 3D printing and computational systems, to address some of the most challenging problems facing society today.

Top-Ranked Graduate Programs

Our graduate programs rank among the nation’s best. The 2017 U.S. News & World Report rated our Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering program 5th and the Materials Engineering program 13th. In the last available rankings, earth sciences ranked No. 6 overall, with the subfields of environmental sciences ranked No. 2, geochemistry No. 2 and geology No. 1.
